SChemcon
The idea of starting a national programme for the students of chemical engineering in line with CHEMCON was being nurtured by the Institute during the last few years. A Students’ CHEMCON (Schemcon) acts as a source of encouragement and self-confidence to young minds, which is considered as the most fertile ground for generation of original and creative ideas. The first ever Students’ Chemcon was organised during 7 to 9 December 2005 at IIT-Guwahati jointly by the Student Chapters at IIT-Guwahati and Assam Engineering College, both newly formed. The response received from the students of chemical engineering in general to participate in this programme had been phenomenal. The success of Schemcon 2005 has encouraged the Institute to continue with the programmes of Schemcons.
Schemcon-2009 was organized last year by Student Chapter at Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT-Roorkee, during September 19-20, 2009, on the theme 'Chemical Engineers for Sustainable Development. Schemcon-2010 will be organized by Student Chapter at Department of Chemical Engineering, RVR & JC College of Engineering, Chandramoulipuram, Chowdavaram, Guntur 522 019, in collaboration with Waltair Regional Centre, IIChE, during September 24-25, 2010, on the theme “Process Industries & Sustainable Development”.
